Late last week, I finally lost it. The floodgates opened and I sat on the edge of my bed sobbing. It had been weeks of searching for a new apartment during one of Chicago's busiest moving times of the year. Most of my days were spent finding listings online which were gone by the time I had emailed the landlord. Or being told I no longer had to come to a showing because there were already enough applicants. Or arriving for a showing to find out that the apartment I'd come to see was no longer available. It's truly been a nightmare, and I just couldn't take it anymore.
I'm happy to say that, since then, I've found a place to live! And it's a place I'm truly looking forward to moving to, in a neighborhood that I adore. It was important to me to have a sense of excitement about my new home. I've lived in my current apartment for nearly a decade, and so many beautiful memories have been built in these walls. Making the move to an exciting place has made the prospect of leaving this home a little bit easier to swallow.
To my surprise - and many others' - I decided to live just outside of the city. I'm *technically* going to be a suburbanite, though I'll be so close to the city limits that it barely matter. But I'm ready - ready for a slightly slower pace, and a slightly quieter life. And if I feel like being out and about, there are a ton of great eating options, bars, shops and all sorts of things to keep me busy in my neighborhood, not to mention easy access to the city. I think it's going to be a great shift.
My move date is just around the corner - next week - and I am in the midst of total chaos. Unless I suddenly feel super inspired, things will probably get a little quiet around these parts for a bit. But I'll have an update and maybe even a little home tour soon enough!
