September was, once again, fairly slow. The book slump is real y'all (and seemingly endless)! I managed only four books this month, with one being a clear favorite. Let's get to it...
I decided to get started early on my spooky reading for the month of October, and in my search for new reads I stumbled across (new to me) author Greg Gifune. This book fit neatly into one of my literary wheelhouses - remote, snowy locations where someone, usually an outsider, stumbles into something sinister.
This book delivers on that set up. A man running away from his past finds himself in the middle of nowhere with a heavy snowstorm on his tail. Seeking a place to stay for the night, he ends up at a hotel on the outskirts of town filled with strange residents and secrets. And the snowstorm is still coming...
I enjoyed Gifune's writing, and it was a decent creepy read that's perfect for the season. I'm definitely interested in checking out more of Gifune's work.
What did you read in September? Any suggestions?
Other books read: The Last Days of Jack Sparks (Arnopp), The Great Alone (Hannah), Snowblind (McBride).
